While some practices have denied use of an EHR, others are embracing electronic health records software to improve patient care, revenue, communication, and participate in various government incentive programs. HealthIT.gov recently released an infographic on how providers are using EHRs and Health IT to improve patient care. In fact, 8 in 10 physicians reported that EHR use has enhanced overall patient care.
Other statistics include:
- 81% of physicians reported EHR use helped access a patient's chart remotely
- Out of the 85% of physicians using an EHR, 47% are somewhat satisfied and 38% are very satisfied
- Physicians using EHRs that met Meaningful Use Criteria with 2 or more years of EHR experience were most likely to report clinical benefits across all 10 measures
- More than 40% of all primary care physicians are working with Regional Extension Centers to achieve Meaningful Use
